5 years already the founding duo Harold (the illustrator) and Devakumar (the writer) have been working together on Respawn comics. The motto of the creative force follows: “Dumb Comics for Smart People. Making sense of Life, Love, and Videogames, one strip at a time.” For Harold, it takes 5-10 hours of pure work for each comic which he waters down over the week due to his main job duties as a video game artist. So how does Harold manage to draw so many new comics all the time? “The secret is to draw faster.” Simple, tough, but true. How it all started for Harold, well… “Like most kids, I always wanted to be a Royal Food Taster. Then my mom got me a Genesis and it was Artist all the way! A few months in, I would lie awake at night wondering if we were even funny? Was anyone reading? Did anyone even care? It took me a while, but I’ve since learned to cope by doing strips that, at the very least, make me laugh. If no one else got it, well, it wasn’t all that bad. But it’s a big ol’ world and it turns out there were a bunch of weirdos laughing with me all along. You shouldn’t lose yourself trying to be what you think everyone else wants you to be. Define yourself by the things you love, not what others hate, and you’ll always find your way.” You can read the full interview on Bored Panda.
