American Iconomics by James Charles

A few years ago, artist James Charles started to redesign dollar bills by changing the historical figures with the images of pop culture characters. At first, he was doing this for the sake of his own amusement but later on he took it more seriously and this entertaining photo series came to life. He uses materials and ink which flawlessly match with US Mint’s and skillfully turns banknotes into money art. Yoda, Spock, Ronald McDonald, Pinhead, and Mr. T. are some of the famous characters he’s put on a dollar bill so far. Some terrific pieces from this collection are listed below. Enjoy!
