Tatiana Mertsalova is a young photographer based in Russia, St. Petersburg. She graduated from St. Petersburg State University of Service and Economics, and took up photography as a profession while she was studing. She first started taking photos mainly of her friends and animals. After having tried various genres, she decided to continue with nude and artistic portraits. Taking up her inspiration from books, people, music, movies and looking at lots of photography examples, she fills up her portfolio with beautiful female portraits. “I put all of my soul into photography. That’s what it means to me. It’s a way for me to tap into my childlike creativity. Once you’ve tried it, it’s addictive.” she states in one of her interviews. Riccardo Vimercati, Marta Bevacqua, Demetrios Drystellas, Zoey Grossman are her favourite photographers whose work she follows obsessedly. When asked if she could do a photoshoot anywhere in the world, where it would be, she replied New Zeland and Iceland were her dream destinations to create images. She also wishes to live there in the following ten years.
