Dog shelters are usually filled with sad stories and this one also started that way. Meet Jay-Z, a lucky chihuahua who escaped death. She’s very old and she was extremely sick during her stay at the shelter, so all of the people who worked there assumed she was on her last legs. Then, a woman named Heather Hayes, a marketing manager at the Asheville Humane Society came by and instantly fell in love with Jay-Z. “The staff at the shelter wondered if she was even adoptable because her health was so bad,” Heather says. “I said, ‘Let me take her home for a night and if we decide she doesn’t have a quality of life and we have to let her go, I want her to be at a home. ‘At least she’ll feel loved for 24 hours.’” One day has passed and the miracle happened! Heather’s love gave this adorable dog a second life. It has been 4 years now and the dog is still alive and happy. Truly a remarkable and heartwarming story, wouldn’t you agree?
